A Few Assumptions On-axis vs off-axis injection decision taken: 2014/Q2 Equipment needs for phase 1 defined: 2014/Q2 (*) Quadrupoles downstream plasma cell defined: 2014/Q4 Laser room needs defined: 2014/Q3 Electron spectrometer design completed: 2014/Q4 Equipment needs for phase 2 defined: 2015/Q4 Electron dump design finalized: 2016/Q2 (*) see next slide 19/5/2014 Design, integration and installation milestones Ans Pardons CERN, EN/MEF 3

Equipment Needs What do we need? – Dimension, desired location (for integration) – Weight (for handling equipment design and support design) – Material (for radiation studies) – Services you need (and how much of it): Vacuum, cooling power, electrical power, compressed air, handling, survey, … – Location of Ethernet plugs, compressed air connections, power outlets (63A, 32A?) – Location volume and power needs of racks – Cables that CERN must install: Type of cable, start /end point (*) (*) A dedicated presentation will be given in the next technical board 19/5/2014 Design, integration and installation milestones Ans Pardons CERN, EN/MEF 4

Equipment Needs What have we received? 19/5/2014 Design, integration and installation milestones Ans Pardons CERN, EN/MEF 5 Typical answer (*) : For our “ Insert name of equipment ” we do not have any special equipment needs. The “ Insert name of part of equipment ” is already being taken care of by CERN. The “ Insert name of other part of equipment ” currently we are using has either one or maybe two “ Insert number between 1 and 20 ” kw heaters but they just plug into normal outlets. The “ Insert names of about 3 different parts of equipment ” use the same standard power outlets. We will read out our data through a computer. Note: We need all your equipment needs, not just the special ones. Normal outlets: please specify where (or max. distance away from equipment), 32A or 64A and power need. For read out and control, please give the location and volume of your equipment. I assume an Ethernet connection point is needed and further no cable at all. (*) All text above is used for educational purpose only. Any resemblance to real equipment, living or dead, is possible but this is not the point here. No harm was intended during the writing of this text. Any complaints should be sent to and will be treated in random order. Missing: Dimensions, weight, material. Heat deposited in air (or: cooling needs). Handling and survey needs (if any). Locating of power outlets and racks/computer.
