Signs of bad times coming: 1. Wages slow in rising. 2. Production slowed in factories. 3. Layoffs were increased. 4. People bought on credit. Farmers (1/3rd of America) were hurting.

From : 5,000 banks went broke. They had loaned money to people in the stock market. Fear caused many to pull their deposits out. People would see a line, panic and other would follow. No insurance.
