Big Idea Task 1. Think ~ 2-3 minutes 2. Group Work: Synthesize Big Idea ~5 min. 3. Group: Gather Evidence ~ 7 min. 4. Question and Explore. Is there another, better, big idea? ~3 min. 5. Gather Evidence. ~7 min. Total time, about 25 minutes. Report Back, 6 minutes.

Three Problem Categorization Task 3 Cards 2 cards match superficial details 2 cards match principals

Example Card 1: A teacher is having difficulty with a student, he sends the student to the office. Card 2: A student is having difficulty with multiplication, so the teacher gives her problems that involve money. Card 3: A teacher is having difficulty with a student with anger management issues, so she gives the student the option for a five minute time out.

Grouping Card 1 and 3 superficially deal with classroom management. Card 2 and 3 deal with understanding and meeting needs of students.
