What are the major elements of a map?
A legend A scale Cities (state capitals, major cities, smaller cities) Large bodies of water and natural landmarks. (mountains, rivers, lakes, oceans) Major highways.
Legend A table or list of the symbols appearing on a map or chart that explains what each item on the map represents.
Scale A line on a map that represent a set amount of miles. This line determines the proportion of the size of objects as they are relative to each other.

Day 1: Creating your map Make an outline of Georgia. Draw in the three different regions. Place a symbol to represent the capital and two major cities in each region. Draw in three bodies of water (lake, ocean or river) Draw in two other major landmarks (mountains, stadiums, valleys, etc.) Make a Compass Rose Make a legend at the bottom that tells what each symbol means.
