NYLON
It is the first fully synthetic fibre and is prepared from coal water and air.
Nylon fibres are strong, elastic, light, lustrous and easy to wash.
Nylon fibres are used for making socks, ropes, tents, belts, curtains and parachutes.
POLYESTER
Polyester is made from ester molecules which are fruit smelling chemicals.
This fibre does not get wrinkled easily and is easy to wash.
Terylene is a popular polyester used for making dress material.
PET is a polyester used for making bottles, films, wires and jars.
Polyester mixed with cotton is polycot. Polyester mixed with wool is polywool. Terylene mixed with cotton is terrycot.
ACRYLIC
Acrylic resemble wool but is cheaper.
Acrylic fibres are used for making sweaters, shawls and blankets.
