FACE2FACE: WIDENING LOCAL DIALOGUE IN MOZAMBIQUE Radio Day Africa, Johanesburg, 1st – 3rd July 2015 COMMUNITY INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION SUPPORT CENTRE

CONTEXT AND GENERAL INFORMATION The project combines ICT tools including radio, video and social media to promote public intervention and the right to information using the community radio network. The problem is to ensure that the new Right to Information law, now gets properly implemented not only in the big cities but throughout the country. The project will build on existing experiences, with a strong emphasis on local initiative and leadership, and replicability through the decentralization of skills and support systems.

Improve interaction between citizens and authorities through effective use of audiovisual tools and local language, particularly video; Establish a public information culture in districts using the new Right to Information Law; Increase citizen access to public information, and their possibilities of discussing and presenting their needs and getting feedback. OUR GOALS

THE OPPORTUNITY a)New Right to Information Law a)New President b)New Media

WHY VIDEO? Youtube CAICC Channel, Radio Volunteers talking about access to information to develop communities. On Youtube we had: 5386 Unique visits in 2014 | January to March 2015, we had 1235 Unique visits | Total: 6621 Unique views

WHO WILL IMPLEMENT? RADIO STATIONS CAICC NETWORK MORE THAN 100 RC More than 627 Post (Law, Governance, radio programs). More than 1745 hits per month. Since 02/26/2015 we exchanged more than 522 msg in WhatsApp. (Law, Governance, radio programs).

National government has already stated that it will support implementation of the new law and will educate its structures for this purpose at all levels, and has encouraged civil society organizations and others to contribute to this implementation. The radio station will act as an interface between local government and citizens, collecting and publicizing opinions and information. The project is intended to generate increased flows of public information of all kinds at local level, and increased public debate and use of information provided. Information and ideas presented through the community radio will naturally be adapted for different listenership. The RC will disseminate local issues at national level through social networks and other media. HOW TO ENGAGE CITZEN AND GOVERNMENT
