The Called Out Community Intro: Matt 10:42; 11:1. Pointing to Matthew 16:18-I will build my church… 1 Peter 2:9,10 To be part of the church we need to understand “redemption”

1 Pet 2:9,10 Context 1 Pet 1:1,2—chosen by God and reside as strangers and aliens scattered… 1 Pet 1:3—a Living Hope: My active all of life response to the person and work of Jesus.

1.A Holy People 1 Peter 2:9 perspective 1pet 1:17,18-a long view to life, that is imbedded with humility. 2. The weight of responsibility 1Pet 2:9 To worship and serve God our living hope. Mission was made for us BUT we were made to live a life on mission.

Some thoughts for Application… We are called to offer our head, heart and hands and thereby enter into the needs of our community. The church is a people that have been both called out of the world to worship God and sent back into it to serve as a witness to the living God. How are we living out God’s mission? Are we expressing our priesthood? What is my active all-of-life response to God and his people?
