Scientists of the Scientific Revolution By: Rebekah Hulsey
Nicolaus Copernicus Nicolaus Copernicus was a native of Poland that wrote, On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres. He was a mathematician that thought the geocentric system was too complicated and he believed his heliocentric which was that the universe offered more accurate explanation than the Ptolemaic system. Nicholas believed that the Sun was the center of the universe and all planets revolve around it and the moon revolves Earth /videos
Galileo Galilei Galileo Galilei was a mathematician and was the first European to make observations of “the heavens” using a telescope. He discovered mountains and craters on the Moon, also he discovered that there are four moons revolving around Jupiter, and that sunspots exist
Isaac Newton Isaac Newton attended Cambridge University where he became a professor of mathematics. Also he wrote the book Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy, this book defined the three laws of motion. He created the universal law of gravitation which tells why “planetary bodies” do not go in straight lines but continue in orbit around the sun. The law states that every object in the universe is connected to another object by gravity
Margaret Cavendish Margaret Cavendish wrote many books including,Observations Upon Experimental Philosophy. Margaret believed that humans have no power over natural causes and effects and we have no powers against nature.Margaret was known as one of the most prominent female scientists of the seventeenth century
William Harvey William Harvey was a very famous scientist who wrote the book,On the Motion of the Heart and Blood. In this book Harvey explained that the heart was the beginning point for the circulation of blood in the body. Also he proved that blood flows in both veins and arteries. Also he showed that blood makes a complete path as it passes through the body that the rest of the blood goes through
