VOCABULARY UNIT 3

PARALLEL LINES Lines on the same plane that never intersect

INTERSECTING LINES Two lines that have one point in common

PARALLEL PLANES Planes that never intersect

PERPENDICULAR LINES Lines that intersect to form right angles (90 ⁰ )

SKEW LINES Lines on different planes that never intersect

TRANSVERSAL A line that intersects two lines at different points

CORRESPONDING ANGLES Angles in the same position when two lines are cut by a transversal Their measures are equal to each other

ALTERNATE INTERIOR ANGLES Angles between the parallel lines on opposite sides of the transversal Their measures are equal to each other

ALTERNATE EXTERIOR ANGLES Angles outside the parallel lines on opposite sides of the transversal Their measures are equal to each other

CONSECUTIVE INTERIOR ANGLES Angles that are between the lines on the same side of a transversal Their sum is 180 ⁰
