Parallel Lines, Transversals, & Special Angle Pairs

When 2 lines intersect crazy, wonderful things happen!

When 2 lines, rays or segments intersect, 4 angles are created. 1 4 2 3 Angles 1 & 4 are a linear pair = 180° Angles 1 & 2 are a linear pair = 180° Angles 2 & 3 are a linear pair = 180° Angles 3 & 4 are a linear pair = 180° Angles 1 & 3 are VERTICAL ANGLES and are congruent. Angles 4 & 2 are VERTICAL ANGLES and are congruent.
