“The Baby King” Luke 1: th December 2015

(Verse1 ) Mary did you know that your baby boy will someday walk on water? Mary did you know that your baby boy will save our sons and daughters? Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new? This child that you've delivered will soon deliver you.

(Verse 3) Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation? Mary did you know that your baby boy would one day rule the nations? Did you know that your baby boy is heaven's perfect Lamb? This sleeping child you're holding is the great I am

V26-28 Mary’s World “In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin's name was Mary. And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favoured one, the Lord is with you!”

An earthly King!  An earthly King who would Restore the kingdom of David  An earthly King who would overthrow and defeat the Roman occupation  An earthly King who would establish peace and prosperity in Israel

V29-30Mary’s Fear ‘But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be. And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favour with God.’

V31-34Mary’s Baby King “And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.” And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?”

Mark Lowry, when he wrote the song "Mary Did You Know", was saying:  Did Mary really know that her baby was God in the flesh sent down to earth from heaven ( Matthew 1:18, 23).  He was the second person of the Trinity that became a man, God the Son, the Word of God (John 1:14).  The Creator of the world (Colossians 1:16-17)

Mark Lowry, when he wrote the song "Mary Did You Know", was saying:  That the reason why Jesus Christ was born was to save mankind from their sins (Matthew 1:21).  That He was the sacrificial Lamb of the Old Testament to take away the sin of the world (John 1:29).  Could she really understand that Jesus was before Abraham was, and that Jesus is The “I am” of the Old Testament (John 8; 58)”.

 Restore: Baby King came to give life   Defeat: The Baby King came defeat the power of sin and set us free   Establish: The Baby King offers to establish peace with God. Romans 5:1 “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”
