Music at school In Aydin, in the school of our Turkish partners, there are no music classes. Sometimes, the students bring a guitar to school and play. Some play ‘Saz’. They don’t have a school anthem but they have a school band and a choir. Both perform on national holidays. In Satu Mare, Romania, every class has a weekly music lesson and in smaller classes, they have up to 5 hours of music every week. The lessons take place at the end of the day because it is relaxing and restful. Teachers play the guitar, the flute or the accordeon. During school ceremonies, the school anthem is sung by the choir which is bilingual : Romanian & Hungarian. It also takes part in religious & state celebrations & commemorations.

And in Romania… In both countries, the costumes are very colourful. Girls often wear a head scarf. Boots are worn by boys and girls alike depending on the area.

Concerts and CD S Music is definitely part of our global world. The answers given by our Turkish and Romanian partners about their musical practices are very similar ! In both countries, our partners acquire the CDs of their favourite singers from different music stores and shops ordownload them on the Internet. But they don’t create them. As they are under 18, or even under 16, they do not attend dance clubs. Festivals are very popular both in Romania and Turkey. The « Zilele Orasului », or « Days of » Satu Mare is a very popular festival, and so are the « Cultural Days » of Satu Mare where you can listen to orchestral and traditional music. Now, did you know that the Golden Orange Film Festival in Antalya is the oldest film festival in the world. And if you can, don’t miss the famous traditional Fig Festival !
