REGIONAL MEETING ABOUT THE PREPARATION AND RESPONSE OF HEALTH SERVICES TO AN INFLUENZA PANDEMIC GROUP 3: SPANISH SPEAKING HEALTH SERVICES MANAGEMENT

QUESTIONS ABOUT ORGANIZATION AT DIFFENT COMPELXITY LEVELS TOPICCONSENSUS EVALUATIONRequirements to be developed by the WHO/PAHO through expert networks Is there enough illustration Adjustments to the Actual are required New Developments are Required Demand Structure The information, methodologies and current tools require adjustments to respond to additional information needs Countries must determine the demand structure, taking into account their epidemiological profile, socioeconomic context and health system situation. Countries may request support from the WHO/PAHO, according to particular needs. In the current models the risk estimate must be included as well as the potential impact of population intervention against the pandemic. The Emergency and Disaster Committees have experience in the implementation of non conventional establishments that must be adopted for a pandemic situation. REQUESTS TO THE PAHO/WHO FOR NEW DEVELOPMENTS THROUGH THE EXPERT’S NEWTORK 1.Develop strategies to elaborate response plans for the health services in border areas in order to confront the pandemic. 2.Develop reference and counter reference mechanisms between patients and levels of assistance in the network services, as well as between health institutions during the pandemic 3.Support identification of sources of financing as well as laws to mobilize resources at a national and international level 4.Define mechanisms for the purchase of critical supplies at a regional level to confront the pandemic 5.Integrate interdisciplinary groups to supply technical support to countries during phases 4 and 5 6.Define mechanism and methodologies for the systematic evaluation of the national pandemic plans in the countries
