The Organisation of Living Things Chapter6 The Organisation of Living Things

Levels Of Organisations Cell level Tissue level Organ level System level Community Ecosystem Biosphere

Organisations of living things The structure of living things is suited to functions they must perform. This is known as

Cell level This is the lowest levels of organisation in living thing. It is seen in unicellular living things.e.g.amoeba,spirogyra,euglena,paramoecium

Tissue level Agroup of cells all of which perform the same function is called a tissue.e.g.moss,algae,hydra.

Organ level Various kinds of tissues come together to form an organ.e.g.stomach, leaf, liver.

System level A group of organs which together carry out a certain function is called a system. This is the highest level of organisation.

Community The group of organisms of all the various species living together in any one habitat is called community.

Ecosystem The living and non living factors together form an ecosystem.e.g. lakes, forests, seas, river, land.

Biosphere The part of the atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere occupied by living things is called Biosphere.

Question Hour Name the organ systems you know. How does tissue level organisation occur? Define ecosystem ,biosphere, tissue, organisation in living things. Explain ecosystem.
