Applications are sent at the beginning of fall and spring to the top 20% of the class Membership eligibility is based solely on academic standing Acceptance and continued membership bases solely on community service Members are required to do 12 hours of community service a year ▪ Most members greatly exceed this!
19 new members were initiated into the Sigma Sigma Phi attendance Mike McClain the past president of the Theta Chapter spoke about the expectations and requirements of membership Our meeting took place earlier this calendar year on March 24, 2010 at the Brook’s Restaurant At this meeting new members learned about the planned community service projects and started to make plans for the future
Eugene Fields Health Fair (Spring 2010) Eugene Fields is a poverty stricken school in the metropolitan area with 99% of the students qualify for the free lunch program Vision booth: performed vision screens and provided vision information ▪ Turned into a sock, underwear and T-shirt distribution table
Rural Health Fair (Sep. 18, 2010) Sigma Sigma Phi worked in cooperation with the STORM club (Rural Medicine club) to provide health screening stations
OSU-CHS Scrub run Sigma Sigma Phi in conjunction with the SOMA club hold an annual 10Km, 5Km and “fun” 1Km run every spring Scrub run volunteers include: ▪ Race marshals ▪ Drink/fruit distributers ▪ OMM Money raised is to support Life Share
Oklahoma Blood Institute blood drive: Scheduled for November 8 th 2010 Last year 20+ units of blood were collected ▪ We hope to do better this year
