Fun Facts

Walruses are marine mammals that live in the arctic. They have bulky bodies with 4 flippers. They can weigh around pounds.

They have thick brown skin. Their blubber helps keep them warm.

Their tusks can grow up to 3 feet long.

These tusks help them chop breathing holes through the ice or to pull themselves out of the water.

Walruses have whiskers that help them detect food under the water. Their favorite food are clams. They also will eat fish and seals.

They can stay under the water for up to 30 minutes.

Walruses have two natural enemies: the orca and the polar bear.

They travel in groups. They also like to be next to each other, which also helps keep them warm.

A baby walrus is called a calf.
