the Legislative Branch consists of the House of Representatives and the Senate, which together form the United States Congress. The Constitution grants Congress the sole authority to enact legislation and declare war, the right to confirm or reject many Presidential appointments, and substantial investigative powers. The legislative branch is made up of the two houses of Congress—the Senate and the House of Representatives. The most important duty of the legislative branch is to make laws. Laws are written, discussed and voted in congress.

Article 1 of the U.S. Constitution gives Congress its powers and limits. Congress is the legislative branch of the government, meaning they are the ones to make laws for the United States of America. The article also creates the two sections of Congress, which is called a bicameral legislature. The first of the two is the Senate, which is made up of two senators from each state. The second is the House of Representatives, which has representatives from each state based on the population.

The United States Senate is the upper house of the bicameral legislature of the United States, and together with the United States House of Representatives comprises the United States Congress. Each U.S. state is represented by two senators, regardless of population. Senators serve staggered six year terms. Senators in the United States receive a salary of $165,200 per year.

The United States House of Representatives is one of the two houses of the United States Congress. It is referred to as the House. The other house is the senate. The salary of The House of Representatives is $174,000 per year. Election day is the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. The length of term is 2 years.

Legislative The most important part of the Congress is making laws of the United States in both houses the work of preparing and considering legislation is done by standing committees, and there are special committees in each house as well. The two houses have an equal voice in legislation. Non-Legislative Amending the constitution Electoral Duties Impeachment, etc.

Jack Kingston is the First District House of Representative of Long County. Saxby Chambliss Georgia’s Senior Senator. Johnny Isakson the junior United States Senators.
