Presentation transcript:

Fourth Grade New Things To Remember Thursday is an A Day and Friday is a B Day. Monday is a C Day, Tuesday is an D Day, Wednesday is an A Day, and Thursday is a B Day, and Friday is a C Day. Each class will be having their own class store at the end of the month. The students are given money each day. The students can also earn extra money and have money taken away. The last week of the month we have a class store where the students can use their money to purchase various items. Every month each class needs donated items such as snack bags (Cheetos, Doritos, etc…), candy bars, big suckers, juice boxes, small toys or items from the dollar store or Target, etc… This store can not take place without your wonderful donations! Thanks for your help! The students love the class store day! Please check over your child’s homework each evening and help your child when needed. Then model how to pack up your child’s homework and other important items, so that your child comes back to school prepared. Modeling at this age really helps your child learn routines. What’s Happening… Important Dates Wednesday August 20th-Picture Day Parent Teacher Conferences: This first conference is YOUR chance to share! It is our favorite conference, because we get to learn about your child through your eyes. Please come prepared to share! The test will be NEXT Friday, August 15th. Language Arts: We are learning about the four types of sentences: declarative, interrogative, imperative, and exclamatory. Math: Your child should be able to explain the difference between place and value. Your child should be able to write numbers in standard, base 10, expanded, and word form. Reading: We are currently working on “active” reading strategies to help our students become better readers. Social Studies: We are learning about the three branches if government and the various levels of government as well as the rights and responsibilities of U.S citizens. This is the “fourth” grade newsletter that will be sent out each week. In this newsletter you will find important information about projects, expectations, and what we are learning about at school. We appreciate you reading the newsletter EACH week and staying informed. The fourth grade team would like to take some time to explain how we feel about homework. Homework in 4 th grade is any work your child has not completed in class. Please check your child’s agenda each evening and sign it. Your child should be writing down all his/her assignments. We write the assignments on the Smart Board each day. We discuss each assignment and remind the students what is important. Then the students write/copy the assignments. We remind the students what to pack in their backpacks as well. If your child is NOT writing all his/her assignments, or not coming home with needed items, please let us know.
