CHECKBOOK PREPARATION for Enterprise City

Your checkbook has three parts: Register pages Checks Deposit Slips

Register pages look like this and are used to record your daily transactions (deposits and withdrawals)

Checks look like this and are used to give the bank directions about what to do with the money you spend.

Deposit slips look like this and are found at the back of your checkbook. Deposit slips tell the bank how much money you are putting into your account.

Write your name, shop, and account number on the cover of your checkbook

Write your name here on every check Write the date of your Enterprise City Visit here on every check. Write your account number here on every check

Put your name and date of your Enterprise City visit on every deposit slip Be sure your account number is on every deposit slip.

Today we will make out our first Enterprise City deposit slip. The next slide will give you instructions on how to do this. Make out a deposit slip that tells the bank how much money you want the bank to keep for you.

Fill out your deposit slip like this: Put the amount of your paycheck here. Write “Pay 1” on this line Put $2.50 on the LESS CASH line. Everyone will receive $2.50 in cash from their first paycheck. The rest of the money goes into your checking account to spend as a check. Subtract $2.50 from your paycheck amount to see how much money you will have in your checking account. (This amount is your NET deposit) Put your subtotal here. It should be the same amount as your paycheck. NOTE: In our example, we use a salary of When you write your deposit slip, use the salary you will make at Enterprise City.

Record your transaction on your check register. Write “Pay 1 in your transaction description Record your deposit amount in the Addition column. Add your deposit amount to the balance for a total deposit balance.

Your checkbook is now ready for your day at Enterprise City!
