2 Drought Update Good start to December precipitation- but no rainfall since. The 10% extra conservation needs to continue into We need a good “Tuolumne water available to San Francisco” year to get out of the hole. Twitter messages:  While we’re excited by SF’s December rainfall – snow and rain is still needed in Jan-Feb to secure SF’s water supply. Keep conserving!  SF’s December rainfall may surpass average! Still watching for Jan-Feb rain and SNOW to really beat the drought. Keep conserving!

Water Supply Planning If we have at or above median precipitation, we’ll be on the road to recovery of system storage. If we have precipitation similar to 2007, it will be a drier than normal year, but the results will keep us at a 10% demand reduction. If we have precipitation similar to 1977, we will need to plan for a 20% demand reduction and begin consideration of alternative water supply options.

10 If It’s Very Dry, What Else Could Happen? State and Federal declarations of emergency Statewide mandatory rationing Widespread diversion curtailments and water re- allocation Suspension of certain environmental protection laws Significant development of projects converting non- potable water to potable
