Canadian history Canada was found by Jacques Cartier Named from an Iroquois word Kanata meaning village This is because the Vikings had a small village near or maybe in Canada Then the War of the League of Augsburg began in 1689 The war started in the east but was also fought in the west The English were stronger in terms of population and wealth Despite the odds New France still won
History continued Some credit the win to the disunited English colony who was also full of mutual jealousy The English planned a big attack on Quebec but it failed At one time Canada was all French English-speaking immigrants came over in 1867 Newfoundland was the first part of Canada explored and the last to become a providence Canada became a country on July 1st, 1867
