International Baccalaureate Diploma Program The IB Diploma Program is designed for highly-motivated high school students with time management skills aged Students fulfill the requirements of the state’s educational guidelines due to the rigor of the IB program.

 IB Psychology is a college level class, similar in scope to a General Psychology course. It places an emphasis on three major perspectives, or levels of analysis, with optional areas analyzed from those three perspectives. The three primary perspectives are Biological, Cognitive, and Sociocultural. The optional areas are Abnormal Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Health Psychology, Psychology of Human Relationships, and Sport Psychology. We are only required to cover one of the optional areas and we will place a strong emphasis on Abnormal Psychology. We will, however, touch on the other options as time allows. The class meets every other day for 90 minutes and is spread out over two years. Psychology SL 1 is taken during the junior year and SL 2 is taken during the senior year.  In IB Psychology, we place a large emphasis on research. You will read and evaluate research in the field and you will actually perform a replication of a published psychological study as your Internal Assessment. You will then take the External Assessment which is 3 hours of essay tests administered by IB.. If you do well on both the Internal and External Assessments, you can receive college credit.  Instructor: Mr. Bryan Friddle IB Psychology

 9 th grade:Spanish 1& 2  10 th grade: Spanish 3 & 4  11 th grade : IB Spanish SL 1 & SL 2  Students study world literature written by Spanish speaking authors.  Students speak in target language exclusively and learn to speak in the target language by the end of coursework.  Instructors: Ms. Kayla Jimenezgomez & Ms. Marcia Torbett IB Spanish sequence

 In depth study and analysis of a relevant science topic chosen by the students, evaluated in a variety of ways, including community forum.  Scientific labs require students to do all planning procedures.  Unique in depth studies of biological subjects such as human physiology and neurobiology and behavior with latitude to change options as needed to improve program.  Instructors: Ms. Rachel Brouillette & Ms. Kathleen Crawford IB Biology

 Allows more freedom and the ability to develop an artistic personality.  Allows students with artistic abilities to tap their creative minds and become a self-driven artist.  Students are expected to develop their own projects based on their research of artists and styles.  Instructor: Ms. Jennifer Brockett IB Visual Art

 A unique class that connects all of the areas of knowledge together to show how knowledge is interrelated.  Challenges the student to investigate why they know what they know and how to evaluate that knowledge in an objective and global society.  Shows how knowledge flows through the four ways of knowing, and teaches the students to become good consumers of information.  Chosen by seniors from a list of ten (10) possible prescribed topics – 1600 words.  Instructor: Ms. Jamie White IB Theory of Knowledge

IB English  In-depth discussion on literary criticism, which gives students “lenses” to view literature.  More time to discuss multiple aspects of each literary work, such as author’s style, the artist’s role in society and cultural perspectives.  Instructors: Ms. Laufenberg and Ms. Sutton
