What Is creative thinking? A). It is the ability to imagine or invent something new. to generate new ideas by combining, changing, or reapplying existing ideas. B). It is an attitude: a willingness to play with ideas and possibilities flexibility to accept change and newness C). It is a process

Creative Methods 1. Evolution- the method of incremental improvement new ideas stem from other ideas new solutions from previous ones 2. Synthesis two or more existing ideas are combined into a third, new idea 3. Revolution the best new idea is a completely different one

Creative Methods 4. Reapplication look at something old in a new way go beyond labels 5. Changing directions- creative insight attention is shifted from one angle of a problem to another- the goal is to solve the problem, not to implement a paricular solution

Teaching strategies to support creative thinking across the curriculum A). Use imagination Question cues: What might happen if......? Can you imagine......? Suggest an improvement on.... B). Generate more ideas: How many kinds of....can you think of? What questions could you could ask? C). Experiment with alternatives: How else might you..? List ten things you could do with...
