Body Systems!

Skeletal System The skeletal system is made up of bones. Our skeleton protects our organs and gives our body it’s shape. Bones are hard on the outside and soft on the inside.

Muscular System The muscular system is made up of muscles. Muscles pull our bones to make the body move. Some of our muscles, like the diaphragm and intestines, are involuntary. That means they work without our brain telling them to.

Nervous System The Nervous System is the controlling and communicating system. A network of nerves extends throughout the body. The nerves send messages to the brain. The brain decides what to do with the information.

Urinary System Also called the Excretory System The basic function is to remove waste products from the body. The kidneys filter the blood and make sure it is just the right composition and thickness. Waste is sent to the bladder. When the bladder is too full, it tells the brain.

Circulatory System Also called the Cardiovascular System. Made up of the Heart, arteries and veins. The heart pumps oxygen rich blood throughout the body through arteries and veins. The brain and body needs oxygen to work. On the way back, the blood goes through the lungs. The lungs removes the Carbon Dioxide and replaces it with Oxygen.

Respiratory System The respiratory system is responsible for getting oxygen into the body, and removing Carbon Dioxide from the body. We do this by breathing. The Respiratory System Works closely with the Circulatory System, which moves the oxygen in blood throughout the body.

Digestive System The Digestive system breaks food down into useful molecules. We need these molecules for energy, and to grow. Digestion begins in your mouth! Our digestive system is a 9 Meter long tube!

All of our body systems work together!
