Presentation transcript:

Lunch times are a favourite for children in every school! Food and play: what more could you ask for? You are probably aware that we asked for your thoughts on how to make CHG lunchtimes EVEN better. We took all of your amazing ideas to the lunchtime supervisors and created an exciting contract. In fact the lunchtime supervisors have already learnt some new games which they cannot wait to share! Issue 10 – Friday 27 th November 2015 Editor: Mr Davoile Reporters: Caitlyn Ward, Kyrstal Asker, Jerel Fearon, Derron Nelson. Questions: What do you think of the new contract? The lunchtime supervisors have committed to making YOUR lunchtimes better. What do you think YOU should commit to? There are some clues on this page. Courthouse Green Network News Happening in Courthouse Green The Contract. The lunchtime supervisors will: Be approachable. Be patient and caring. Be supportive and listen if you have a problem. Be fun and play new games with you. TEACHERS make a list of your children’s ideas and hand them to the Deputy Head Teacher. Be polite Show respect Follow instructions

How do you think Emily felt when she could not see any disabled super heroes? Nine year old Emily loves comics, but she has a disability and couldn't see any characters in her comics who looked like her. Her dad decided to do something about it. He created a comic starring Emily as a superhero called, "The Department of Ability". Emily’s dad began to write these comics because he wanted to remind his daughter that anyone can be a super hero! Happening in the UK. How do her dad’s comics help? Why do you think the Paralympics are so important to people with disabilities? POW!

Happening in the world! As reported in a previous CGNN, there is a civil war going on in Syria (where some people are fighting to keep the government and others are fighting to get rid of it). Manar moved to Britain just three weeks ago, after she was forced to leave Syria because of the violence and danger she faced. The final decision to leave came when a war plane destroyed her neighbour’s house. Manar said: "Before the war, Syria was really lovely. We used to come and go safely, we felt very comfortable. Since the civil war we have been been really scared from hearing all the missiles and the shooting. We could hear gunfire and see the airplanes in the sky. Once it shelled (bombed) near us, so we were terribly scared. We used to tell our mother just to get us out." Questions: How do you think Manar felt during the civil war? How do you think she feels now she is in the UK? What would you say to Manar if you met her? Having experienced such horrors do you think she feels happy to be a British citizen? Do you appreciate (feel thankful) living in a country that is safe?
