Maintenance Inspect tool after each use Handle –Sand if necessary. Apply Linseed Oil –Check for cracks –Check that handle is straight. Not warped or twisted Head –Check for cracks, chips, burrs, etc. –Make sure head is secured to handle –Sharpen if necessary –Sharpen 4” from heel at 45°angle
Safety Wear appropriate PPE –Minimum of helmet, gloves and eye protection Maintain 10’ spacing Maintain footing when swinging Carry on downhill side Carry parallel to the ground When passing tool, pass handle first Use gloves when sharpening
