A group of enthusiastic Bengalis residing in Sanpada got together in 1998 with 40 members and formed Bengali Association Sanpada (BAS). By 2004, the association had grown to 320 strong members and commenced various socio-cultural activities by celebrating puja’s like Shri Shri Durga puja, Laxmi puja, Kali puja and Saraswati puja. Since then, BAS has extended its limit beyond celebrating religious / cultural programs to contribute more to various social causes, which helped the association in fulfilling its dream of registering the association in the year 2008 from Commissioner of Charity Public Trust Registration Office, Thane wherein a the registration No. MH/1396/08/Thane was allotted to the association. Today our organization is a full fledged registered social organization and organizes various social activities through out the year like Medical Check-up Camp, Blood Donation camps in association with TATA Cancer Research Institute etc. We are also providing regular financial support to Bharat Sevashram Sangha, Vashi and Batsalya Trust, Sanpada. Our next step is to register the association for 80-G under Income Tax Act to pass on the Income Tax benefit to all the donors who are regularly and generously supports our association in fulfilling the social causes. 1.Yearly Financial support to cancer patients through Bharat Sevashram Sangha 2.Distribution of clothes to the poor citizen through them 3.Organized Blood donation camp in 2013 in association with TATA Cancer Research Institute 4.Organized free blood sugar detection and Platelets donor’s identification camp for residents of Sanpada 5.Members of this association have registered their name in TATA Cancer Research Institute, Khargar as platelet donors and some of them have donated platelets to TATA Memorial Cancer Hospital, Kharghar 6.Presently Association office has facilities such as indoor games, library. 7.Music, drawing, dance classes are being conducted at association premises to nurture young talent. 8.Association has also extended financial support to Vatsalya Trust, Sanpada to help education of atleast six under-privileged girl students. Our Association’s vision is to serve the society and organize festivals, cultural activities, religious discourses and community gathering. However, the Association is presently facing challenges to execute all its activities due to space constraints in its present rented facility. Even though we endeavor to continue the community activities to help promote human bonding, which we are sure will help the society in leading a peaceful & harmonious life.
