Welcome Trinity Academy Consultation November 2015

What is this meeting about?  to give parents an opportunity to find out more about the national agenda and how this impacts on Trinity  to give parents an opportunity to ask questions  to enable parents to have an opportunity to share their comments to inform governor’s planning  to provide the formal consultation meeting for parents as part of the academy process

What has the journey been so far? Governors have been exploring the options around becoming an Academy since 2011 The government agenda is for all schools to become part of an academy by We are now committed to the option of becoming part of the Bath and Wells Multi Academy Trust which is an established and well-developed academy serving many schools across the area.

Why would we want to become an academy? The LA is becoming smaller and therefore less able to support schools To gain from collaborative working To support other schools in collaborative working To gain from the purchasing power of a large organisation and economic viability in times of financial cuts

What is a MAT? A multi-academy trust (MAT) Academies are governed by one trust (the members) and a board of directors (the governors). There must be at least three members, who may be governors from predecessor governing bodies, foundation bodies or trusts, bringing with them the ethos of the constituent schools. There are sponsored and converter academies.

Why would we want to join the Bath and Wells MAT? The Governors would wish the school to retain the ethos and culture that current parents chose it for! Trinity Primary School will proactively seek to continue to collaborate with the networks we currently work with. After a considerable amount of exploration and discussion the governors believe that the Bath and Wells MAT will offer the school an opportunity to further improve standards and achievement within the context or our Christian ethos. The school improvement support has proved itself to be highly effective. To develop the opportunities of efficiency in our administration through collaboration with the expertise available through the Bath and Wells MAT, whilst building on the strengths we have and sharing our good practice.

What is the Bath and Wells MAT? It is an organisation with 10 schools currently The offices are based in Wells It was set up in 2012 It is an inter-county organisation covering the Diocese region of North Somerset, BANES and Somerset. It has a management structure including a CEO and a CFO plus a wide team of financial and educational off

What will change? Accountability and support Systems and software currently used Slight changes to the school logo Slight changes therefore to the uniform The name of the school Collaborative activity

What will not change? Ethos and culture Staffing and governors Many internal policies and practice
