Meet the coaches The three coaches will explain and help students understand how to use different study skills to improve their study efficiency.

Teri is the Time manager. He will help you organize your daily schedule and plan study time. Hello, this is Teri. We are going to learn time management together!

Leo is the Note-taking expert. He is going to provide you with strategies of note-taking. Heyloo, Leo will demonstrate you how to be a good note taker.

Melton is the study skill advisor. He will give you suggestions on how to improve your study skills Hi, Melton will guide you through some basic study skills that help you learn better.

Time Management Graphic Organizer Everyone has different schedules and ways of manage their time. But, don’t forget that we all have 24 hours a day. Try to use your calendar or personal notebook to record your daily schedule. Set up some time for study each day when you have a longer period of free time available. You can also create your schedule in graphic so that it’s personalized and easier for you to look at.

Summarizing & Note taking Try to summarize key points you get from different learning resources(e.g. textbooks, reading materials etc.) and write down into short sentences or phrases Do Not do Verbatim note taking. It’s least efficient.

Study Skills—Similarities and Differences I know that everyone has different study habits and study skills to learn. And we also have some similar basic study skills. Those basic study skills work for almost all of us. For example, when studying, we should try to focus on just doing one thing-study instead of watching TV, listening to music or talking on the phone at the same time. It’s not efficient to do more than one thing at the same time.
