Introduction Total No. of Districts in U.P NLR Supported :-34, TLMI Supported :- 37 No. of districts with PAL Homes: NLR- 15,TLMI - 15 No. of PAL Homes in these districts: NLR -30, TLMI - 42 No. of PAL Homes identified till April 2010 NLR :- 30, TLMI:- 02 No. of SCGs Completed 3 months but less than 6 months 24 No. of SCGs Completed 6 months but less than 9 months 04 No. of SCGs Completed 9 months but less than 12 months 02 No. of SCGs Completed 12 months NIL No. of PAL homes where PALs have started SC practices in groups NLR :- 28 & TLM :- 02

“ Self care in Villages” Project Area of U.P. :- Only 10 out of 34 districts. Target population :- 15 GHC staff, 20 PALs & 20 PALs attendants/ family members in each PHC/CHC in each district. Total 150 GHC staff, 200 PALs & 200 PALs attendants involved. First Self care training cum practice workshop has been organised at CHC Kalyanpur, Kanpur on April 2010, where 16 GHC staff,03 NMS from NLR, 25PALs & 24 attendants participated. Facilitators:- NLR NCR Dr. P.R.Manglani, NLR NCSCG Mr. Dikshit & State ILEP Co ord. Dr. H.C.Pandey.

Contd….. Observers:- Dr. Anrik Engelherd, Medical Advisor, NLR, Amsterdam,Dr. M.A.Arif. C.R. NLR, Dr. Rashmi Shukla, state NLEP Coordinator. Support from NLRF:- Technical expertise, organizational costs, costs of Tub & other logistics. Output:- PALs were confident that they could learn & practice self care at home. GHC staff could learn the skills also motivated to supervise & monitor self care practices done by PALs.

Problems Encountered & Solutions S. No. Problem encounteredHow it was solved 1All PALs are Beggars, Less time for Self Care Practices Counseling of PALs with Demonstration of Self Care Practices. 2Govt. Staff is Unwillingly to visit PALs Home DLO requested to ensure staff attend PALsHome. I have made personal rappo with Govt. Staff. 3Few colonies practicing self care in a month ( 40-50% ) Draw attention of Failitator & requested Pradhan / Gr. Leader to ensure more practices done by PALs. 4Poor supervision & monitoring by Facilitator Requested DLO for frequent visits & free from others charge.

Educational Support Mr. Divakar s/o Mr. Lallu Prasad, residing at Gandhi Gram Kushth Ashram, Taj Ganj, Agra has been supported by NLR Foundation, New Delhi for studying in Computer from DOEACE Society, Chandigarh at Lucknow Branch. 1 st Installment given on 27 th April 2010 ( Rs. 19,730) Fees for DOEACE Rs.15,000/- & rest amt. for 1 st Qrt. Conveyance of Divakar.
