PROCESS GOALS (STUDENT FRIENDLY)  I use pictures, numbers, and words to show my thinking.  I use math vocabulary to explain my thinking to others.  I describe why I think my strategy makes sense when solving a problem.  I show how the problem is like something else I already know.  I use effective strategies to solve a problem.

REPRESENTATIONS & CONNECTIONS

PROBLEM SOLVING & REASONING  As mathematicians, this is our wheelhouse!

COMMUNICATION HCPS Focus  Questioning  Bloom’s level  Open vs. Closed  Wait Time  Justification  Student Talk vs. Teacher Talk  How do you facilitate the classroom?  Student Engagement  Are students active or compliant?

DIFFERENTIATION  Differentiated instruction is the way in which a teacher anticipates and responds to a variety of student needs in the classroom.  To meet student needs, teachers differentiate by modifying the content (what is being taught), the process (how it is taught) and the product (how students demonstrate their learning).  If your lesson plans incorporate all 5 process goals, you are essentially differentiating your instruction!

SKILLS, TASKS, AND EXEMPLARS  Skills and Tasks are on the HCPS website. Exemplars are in the Teacher Evaluation Google Drive folder.Google Drive  Find meaningful opportunities to incorporate mathematical discussions with your students!
