Hazards Of Wildlife

Car / Deer Collision Facts What Are the Facts? Although most car-deer collisions occur between the months of October and December, a car-deer collision can occur at any time during the year. Most car-dealer collisions occur between 6PM and Midnight.

Rural, 2 lane roadways are the sites of the most car-deer incidents, but deer can also be Car / Deer Collision Facts found in densely populated areas.

Safe Driving Tips Use special caution in areas that are posted with deer crossing signs. Remember, if you see one deer, there are sure to be others nearby. Slow your vehicle down and remain alert.

Do not swerve to avoid hitting a deer. It is better to collide with the deer than to collide with another vehicle or roadside object. Safe Driving Tips

Do a visual sweep of the surrounding fields as you are driving. You will possibly be able to see a deer before it comes onto the roadway, and can adjust your speed accordingly. Safe Driving Tips Use your high beams if no traffic is approaching. They will illuminate the eyes of deer sooner than low beams, allowing greater reaction time.

Drive carefully and at a safe speed! Safe Driving Tips
