UL UNIVERSIDADE DE LISBOA CENTRO DE FÍSICA NUCLEAR Nupecc Workshpo on Small-Scale Accelerator Faccilities, Crete 7-8 September 2007 Tandem new lines of activity HICONEX Cs microbeam ( m) multielement ("AUSTRALIS") negative ion source C Conventional HICONEX Cs beam multielement negative ion source Two beamlines for AMS: A) for 14 C dating: 2 off-center Faraday cups for parallel current measurement of 12 C3+ and 13 C3+, while the 14 C3+ detection is by means of an electrostatic analyzer and a gas proportional counter. B) Heavy ion ("AUSTRALIS") beamline: The magnet is able of analyzing 6+ (or higher charge state) ions of all elements up to U at 2.5 MV terminal voltage. Sequential analysis of different isotopes (around +-3% of center mass) in the magnet is possible by means of the "fast bouncing" technique, i.e. by means of electrostatic deflectors which can be switched at >10 ms time intervals
