Our talents What are they for ?
What are talents ? Some might think that talents are just something that we are “good at” by mere chance. Matter of fact is that talents are not a chance, they are very important in our spiritual life since Jesus spoke clearly about their effect in this life, and the next one…
Talents in the Bible If you read Matthew 25:14-28, you will notice some important things Jesus said, The bags of gold = talents. His wealth = The talents are God’s, not ours. (…) according to his ability = God knows what you can do and what you can’t do. The word entrusted = God trusts you with the talent he gave you.
Hidden talents Some might think that playing music, painting, drawing, being good at sports are the only talents anyone can have, this is not true at all.
How do I discover my Talent ?! What am I good at? What do I like to do? What things does the Holy Spirit move me to do? Important: always ask God to help you see the talents He gave you
Share your Talents Having a talent is no use if you cannot share it with someone else or use it to help someone else.
Examples of Hidden Talents Being Quiet is a talent and a gift you can use at church or at school, not all of your friends at school or at church are popular and social, if you have a quiet personality and you find another person who is shy, you can approach her as a friend and give her company so she won’t feel lonely anymore.
How can I use my talent? Talents could be used in a good way, but also in negative ways. A girl can use her talents of being social and popular in a Godly way by approaching friends and making them come closer to God because they like listening to her !
The same girl can use her social personality in negative ways, by approaching bad people, ungodly people and hanging out with them, or even to use her personality to intimidate other girls who are not as social and make them feel bad about themselves.
Talents to glorify God If your talent is not aimed to glorify God and if you are using your talent for personal reasons to serve yourself then your talent is useless ! Remember who your talent (bag of gold) belongs to …
Passive is Negative Even you don’t use your talent in a negative way but you don’t use it at all, that counts as using it in a bad way because you could have used it to bring someone else closer to Jesus and you did not.
Verse of the Lesson “To him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.” (James 4:17)
Talents and Eternity In the parable in Matthew, Jesus said that the way we use our talents will determine our place in eternity. Talents are gifts from God , they are to be actively used.
Enjoy your Talents God gave us these talents so we can enjoy them ! Don’t consider your talents as a burden, use them correctly to glorify God, and enjoy it !
