Location
Upper Silesia is a characteristic region of Poland because of its specific dialect, food and many coal mines. Silesia is close to the mountains (Beskidy). There are also many monuments like palace in Pszczyna.
Attractions of Upper Silesia
The Kraków-Częstochowa Upland, also known as Polish Jura It is located about 1,5 h from Tychy. It is perfect place for rock climbing, bicycle trips. There are also many old castles(built in XIV, XV century).
Several years ago almost everybody worked in mines. Nowadays there are still people who work there but it is not as good business as it used to be.
Silesian Dialect Silesia for a long time used to be a part of Germany. That’s why in Silesian dialect there are many words similar to German words. For example: banhof, bishalter, bryle Actually, fewer and fewer people talk in Silesian dialect. Only old people and inhabitans of little villages still do it.
