Creating a New Chart  Before you create a chart, you need to identify the data that is to be included.  Once you’ve done that, you can then select from a wider range of chart types to set the layout and format for your chart.

Creating a New Chart Select the data you wish to plot Click on the Insert tab and then click on one of the chart types in the Charts group Drag the embedded chart object to an appropriate location on the worksheet

Changing the Chart Layout  The Layout tab under Chart Tools now contains most of the commands that you would need to use to change the appearance and placement of chart elements.

Changing the Chart Layout Click on the chart to select it 1 Click on the Design tab and then choose Chart Layouts 2 Use any of the commands to change how elements of the chart appear 3

Formatting Chart Elements  The Format tab under Chart Tools provides an extensive array of formatting options for any of the elements in a chart.  The buttons on the Format tab will change depending on what element you have selected.

Moving the Location of a Chart  You can easily move or resize the embedded chart but, you may wish to display the chart in a separate chart sheet.  The Move Chart button can be used to move an embedded chart to a chart sheet and vice versa.
