9 th grade- Simple Spanish Phrases Subject Area 12: World Languages –Standard Area 12.1: Communication in a target language –12.1.S1.D: Know simple sentence and question structures in order to communicate. USA-ISTE: National Educational Technology Standards for Students: The Next Generation –Standard: 3. Research and information fluency- Students apply digital tools to gather, evaluate, and use information. Indicator: b. Locate, organize, analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and ethically use information from a variety of sources and media

ABCD Objectives Audience: 9 th graders Behavior: Learn how to speak and understand basic vocabulary and phrases Condition: Given the app which includes pictures, audio, and text of each phrase Degree: After utilizing this app, students should be able to communicate basic phrases in Spanish

Description Free and most popular language learning app Interactive pictures that allow students to read, listen, and see phrases Focuses on social interaction rather than random vocabulary

Strategies Student-centered instruction –Students will work with the app on their own or in partners –Repetition allows for students to learn the phrases –Hearing the phrase from a native speaker, seeing a picture, and reading the text allows different ways to learn each phrase

Prerequisites Understand basic social skills This app is designed for beginners, so no background knowledge about the Spanish language is needed
