Biography attended the St. Louis Academy of the Sacred Heart As a girl, she was mentored by woman in her life Much of the fiction Kate wrote as an adult draws on the nurturing she received from women as she was growing up. In 1855, her father was killed in a railroad accident

Biography From 1867 to 1870 Kate kept a commonplace book Husband was Oscar Chopin Between 1871 and 1879 she gave birth to five sons and a daughter 1882 Oscar died of malaria-Kate became a widow at age thirty-two, with the responsibility of raising six children. She never remarried.

Story of An Hour Louise Mallard's sister, Josephine, tells her about a railroad disaster and Brently, was on the list of those killed. Louise begins sobbing when Josephine tells her of Brently’s death and goes upstairs to be alone in her room. Later, she goes downstairs to find out Brently is still alive. She then dies of a heart failure.
