Alternative resource for Northern Ireland By Aidan, Ciarán, Adam, Jack, Paul and Domhnall

What is the Alternative Resource? We believe that wind power is the most appropriate source of energy for Northern Ireland. We believe this because wind is probably the most contestant renewable resource in NI and the UK.

How it works The force of the wind turns the blades of the wind turbines. These are connected to a rotor. The kinetic energy moves in the generator. The kinetic energy changes to electricity and is moved to the transformer. Then is taken to your homes. Labelled image of our turbines.

Advantages There are many advantages of using wind energy these include It’s renewable It’s reliable Doesn’t pollute the Environment It’s free when installed

Disadvantages Unfortunately the turbines are unsightly when at full speed and can kill birds.

Why it’s best? We think it’s un comparable to other resources such as Nuclear Power is virtually uncontrollable and is a fossil fuel. Solar power can’t be used such in NI because the sun is usually covered by clouds.

Conclusion Wind power is the best source of renewable energy for Northern Ireland because other resources can’t compare to this source. Based on the evidence we have gathered in this presentation.
