Presentation transcript:

In the fall of 2015, I will be starting my 32nd year of teaching. It will be my 22nd at Pearl City. For those of you who don't know me or are new to the agriculture experience, let me tell you a little about myself. I grew up on a small hobby farm near Savanna, Illinois. I am the 5th of 6 children. I have 3 older sisters, one older brother, and one younger brother. Unfortunately, my younger brother passed away in 2003 leaving me now as the youngest living sibling of the family. I graduated from Mt. Carroll High School in I received my bachelor of science degree in agricultural education from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in I taught agriculture at Unity (Mendon) High School from 1984 until I have been teaching agriculture at Pearl City since In 1998, I received my Masters Degree in Education from National Louis University. My daughter, Melissa, was a 2010 graduate of Pearl City. She currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee. My son, Evan, who just graduated from Pearl City in 2015, is a freshman at the University of Wisconsin- Whitewater. I live in Pearl City with my Boston Terrier Dinger (named for my deceased younger brother's childhood nickname). In my spare time I enjoy thoroughbred horse racing, baseball, and reading.

 ALTHOUGH I CANNOT MAKE YOU JOIN FFA, ALL STUDENTS NEED TO BE AWARE THAT FFA IS AN INTER-CURRICULAR PART OF AG. EDUCATION AND NOT AN EXTRACURRICULAR CLUB. CLASS TIME WILL BE USED TO PREPARE FOR AND PARTICIPATE IN FFA EVENTS. ALONG WITH CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION AND SAE, FFA IS CONSIDERED AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE TOTAL PACKAGE OF AG. EDUCATION. THEREFORE, INVOLVEMENT IN FFA IS NOT MANDATORY BUT IS VERY STRONGLY ENCOURAGED. FFA PARTICIPATION DOES HELP YOUR GRADE.

 ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE AN EZ RECORDS ACCOUNT AND A PROJECT OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL OF SOME SORT TO KEEP RECORDS ON.  IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT PROJECTS BE AG. RELATED BUT AG RELATED IS NOT REQUIRED.  PROJECTS SHOULD BE CENTERED AROUND A HOBBY OR A JOB.  EZ RECORDS ARE GRADED AT LEAST ONCE PER MONTH FOR 100 POINTS.
