Page th IETF – Hiroshima, Japan, November 2009 What’s diagnostic tools Diagnostic tools are used for diagnose fault or performance, which including: 1.Loopback - looping the traffic at an Intermediate Point(MIP) or End point (MEP) back to the originating e nd Point-loopback. 2.Bandwidth/throughput estimating or verification 3.Frame loss/delay measurement
Page th IETF – Hiroshima, Japan, November 2009 What’s diagnostic tools -TST Diagnostic tool-TST is used for verifying throughput one-way or two way on-demand in-service or out-of-service. Throughput is a capacity in terms of line rate; it is the amount of bits observed passing a point during a time interval.
Page th IETF – Hiroshima, Japan, November 2009 Out of service test Client data traffic is disrupted in the diagnosed entity by LCK function. The source MEP transmits TST packets to the target MEP,and gradually increase TST packet bandwidth until hitting a threshold TST packet traffic loss rate.

Page th IETF – Hiroshima, Japan, November 2009 TST frame suggestion TST frame including: –Performance counter such as send time, received time, send packets, received packets. –TST TLV such as test pattern such as NULL, PBRS, RFC2544
Page th IETF – Hiroshima, Japan, November 2009 Discussion Is there need throughput test tool (TST) for MPLS-TP? Test in service ?
