EAUC Wales AGM 5 October 2011 Louise Hazan

Introduction Compiled annually since 2007 by People & Planet – the UK's leading student campaign network. only independent and comprehensive sustainability benchmark of the entire UK higher education sector. methodology developed in consultation with the sector and approved by an independent pan-sector body, the Green League Oversight Group.

What's its purpose? People & Planet's Green League table aims to evaluate just how far and fast the UK's Higher Education sector is making the necessary transition to a fair and low-carbon future. The People & Planet Green League is not a static ranking exercise. It is designed to reward institutions that are: following best practice in the sector, making significant performance improvements year-on-year pioneering new ways to transition their institutions to a fair and sustainable future.

Basic stats from universities (up from 120) Major improvements in all criteria except carbon reduction 3.9% increase in carbon emissions (sector average)

Green League 2011 Changes Green League Guide Earlier methodology notification & detail Appeals Process Bespoke, pre-filled online surveys Longer submission period – 30 days
