How Are We Organized? What Technology Do We Use? What Geospatial Content Can We Provide?
How Are We Organized? Ohio EPA has six program divisions and many support offices. We have a central office, five district offices, a field office, and a lab. There are about 250 GIS users across the Agency, with varying levels of GIS skills. The GIS Team is centralized in the Office of Information Technology Services (ITS). Our team includes three GIS Professionals. Ohio EPA has a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with OGRIP to share professional expertise, to partner on statewide GIS initiatives, to support and maintain our GIS enterprise environment, and to reduce costs to the state. We have recently developed a GIS Program which defines the strategic importance of GIS for the Agency and aligns GIS with statewide IT and GIS initiatives. The Program governs the work that we do through formally managed projects.
