Location Camp Powhatan is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains and is part of the Blue Ridge Scout Reservation. Its exact address is 2600 Max Creek Road, Hiwassee, Virginia  24347. Because of its location in the mountains it is not extremely hot in the summer making it a nice summer camp. Surprisingly, ADA accessible. It’s also fairly large. 1

Facilities: I mean, they’re not like a resort but they’re not terrible. Most of everything is fairly new(ish). They have a: Classy nature lodge Scoutmaster lounges with wifi. Nice trading post with foods and goods. New shooting setups And much more! 2

Shooting The shooting activities they have consist of: Rifle Shotgun 5-Stand Pistol And bow and arrow (if you count that) As mentioned previously they have a very nice shotgun/rifle setup at the camp. 3

Merit Badges And Stuff They have over 30 merit badges at the camp. Along with that they have a new scout program (Brownesa Island Program) and high adventure programs like; New River Adventure and Voyageur. Those contain whitewater rafting, whitewater canoeing, natural rock climbing, ATV’s, and more! Powhatan also has COPE (challenging outdoor personal experience) The next slide has the full list of merit badges. Just look them over for a minute. 4

Waterfront Camp Powhatan has a medium sized lake offering a large range of water related merit badges and waterfront activities. Part of the Camp Powhatan lake something called a blob. Basically, one person is sitting on one end of this ¾ inflated tube. Someone at the other one jumps onto the opposite end off a platform, the first person goes flying. .
