Adaptations of Sherlock Holmes

Sherlock Holmes Movies 1900 was the year that the first Sherlock Holmes film was released called ‘Sherlock Holmes Baffled’, which ran for less than a minute. It was made by ‘American Mutoscope and biography Company’. Through out the 20 th century more Sherlock Holmes films were released. Some of the actors who played Sherlock Holmes through out the years were Maurice Costello, Harry Arthur Saintsbury, Arthur Wontner and the latest actor to play Sherlock Holmes is Robert Downey Jr.

Sherlock Holmes Radio In 1938 the first radio broadcast of Sherlock Holmes came about which starred the famous Orson Welles as Sherlock Holmes. John Gielgud played Holmes for BBC in the 1950’s. There has been many other radio adaptation’s of Sherlock Holmes over 750 in English. BBC radio 2 also broadcast in Overall there has been a lot more radio broadcasts of Sherlock Holmes than films. Also more variety of people have played Sherlock Holmes in the radio broadcasts.
