Flamethrowers By: Joseph Campero

First Appearance  The earliest ones date back as far as the 5 th century B.C.  Used same way blow guns were used.  Invented by the Chinese

World War 1  Another flamethrower as invented by Richard Fiedler in  Developed two models; one large & one small  Were mostly used in early phases of war(1914 & 1915).  Germans were the first to use them in the war.

What were they used for?  Mainly needed to clear enemy soldiers from their front line trenches.  It was also useful as an intimidation tactic.  Purpose of these weapons to lower the enemy’s morale.  Frightened most soldiers away.

Facts about Flamethrowers  These destructive weapons used pressurized air, carbon dioxide, or nitrogen to push oil through the nozzle.  First had range of 25 meters but then improved to 40 meters.  Liquid capacity of liters.  Main parts are the fuel tank, flame tube with it’s hose, and the lighter system.
