 The odors of rotting wood and damp soil rise from the dark brown earth.  The words are ADJECTIVES.  Adjectives are words that describe nouns. Adjectives can tell what kind or how many.  What does the adjective rotting describe?  What does the adjective damp describe?  What do the adjectives dark and brown describe?

 Directions: Pick out the adjectives in the following sentences from the book The New Americans: Colonial Times by Betsy Maestro and Giulio Maestro.
