Commas in a series: Use commas to separate words phrases or clauses in a series. Commas with coordinate adjectives: Use a comma to separate two or more adjectives preceding a noun, but not after the last adjective before the noun. ( and test) Example: Running that road race was a fun, challenging experience. Mark commas in the correct place according to these rules. Put them in the Bell Ringers section of your binder. 1. We ran walked and even limped to the finish line. 2. You make such light airy cheesecake! 3. I know I will pass the test if I take good notes if I study hard and if I get a good night’s sleep. Read the short story “Eleven” by Sandra Cisneros. As you read, find three examples of figurative language, such as similes, metaphors, allusions, or symbols. Also notice how Cisneros develops her characters. What kind of character is Rachel? What about her teacher? Read
