NOUNS People Places Things Ideas

PRONOUNS A word used in place of one or more nouns or pronouns. Ask Dan if Dan has done Dan’s homework. Ask Dan if he has done his homework.

ADJECTIVES An adjective is a word that describes, or modifies, a noun or a pronoun. Adjectives tell What kind? Which one? How many? How much?

VERBS A verb is a word that expresses an action or a state of being. Verbs are what you do!

An adverb answers the following questions: ADVERBS An adverb is a word that modifies a verb, an adjective, or another adverb. An adverb answers the following questions: Where? How often? To what extent? When? How? How much? How long?

Prepositions A preposition is a word that shows the relationship between a noun or pronoun and another word in the sentence. Do you remember learning the prepositions last year????

Conjunctions A conjunctions joins words or groups of words. The hook up words, phrases, or clauses that go together in the sentence.

Interjections ouch! NO! YEAH! OOPS! Awesome! wow! These words show strong feelings. ouch! NO! YEAH! OOPS! Awesome! wow!
