Behaviour Management Implementing a behaviour management system using the ESLRs Behaviour Management Programme ISAMS House Points Expectation of parental support at home Refer to ESLR chart in classroom when speaking about it. Explain name on board and tics. 3 tics = isams. 3 or more isams = paper work home/ call to parents. If behaviour persists meeting will be called with teacher. Stress that each teacher has an award programme to encourage positive behaviour. This is the focus as opposed to punishing negative behaviour. If students persist in negative behaviour forms will go home to be signed and we ask for parent support in addressing problem.

Absences Important that children attend school for all designated school days. More than 36 days, the child may not be promoted 5 late arrivals at school is counted as 1 absent On test days- doctor’s certificate required Any work missed has to be completed on their return to school Mention the severity of students arriving late -for every 5 late arrivals it is one absent

School Uniform Please consult the Handbook for information regarding the school uniform All children are allocated to a House: Red, Yellow, Green or Blue. Official house shirts should be worn on Wednesdays. Uniforms are available from the Al Muftah Store in Al- Sadd ( across from the Royal Plaza Mall) No deviations will be accepted Please help us implement our student uniform by ensuring the children come correctly dressed when coming to school. On PE days, children must wear the school PE kit. Jewellery & nail polish are not permitted Jewelry – girls only allowed to wear studs, no necklaces or bracelets

Eating and Sleeping It is very important that your children get plenty of sleep to ensure they are able to focus in class. Healthy snacks are very important for the children’s wellbeing. Our school is a nut-free school. Please make sure your children are bring a water bottle and healthy food to school.

Words Their Way, Frys Words Mathematics Cambridge International Program Science and Social Studies Global Studies Weeks 1-5 Explore and describe different aspects of culture. (Food and Celebrations) Explore and describe how different aspects of culture influence behaviour of people living in a particular culture. Character Education Second Step Program ICT – Laptops on Wheels- Used for all classes. Talk about laptop carts. Laptops will be used for learning in all subject areas. Mention that the Math program is linked with the Middle School program, will make transition easier Students that take Global Studies will be assessed and an outcome will be added to the report

Assessment Continuous assessment using the work the children do in class and home as a base Observation of the child’s participation in class activities, group activities and individual activities Summative assessments at the end of topics Notice will be given a week in advance of all assessments Students will be assessed throughout the 3 school terms but only receive 2 formal reports and a report summary in Term 2 You can mention that there will be 3 reporting terms but only 2 formal reports.
